If you know me, you know I absolutely love to throw gatherings. A cozy dinner party with a fun theme is kind of my claim to fame. I'm always dreaming up new ways to celebrate—because life is so wonderfully joyous, and sharing those small moments with friends feels like honoring the gift of joy our Creator gives us. And honestly? I love when others copy and paste my ideas and make them their own!
Not too long ago, I planned one of my favorite themed girls’ nights yet: Plant Cuttings & Cocktails. The idea was simple but so fun—gather all my plant-loving friends, have everyone bring a plant cutting to swap, and sip on herb-forward cocktails while enjoying good food and even better company.
We were actually supposed to do it again this past weekend, but we had to head out of town last minute. Still, I thought—why not share it on the blog anyway? I’m too excited about this theme to keep it to myself!
Here’s what made the night so special:
- Everyone brought a plant cutting (or small plant) to swap. You come with one, you leave with one!
- We made herb-forward cocktails—think chai tea martinis & lavender gin + tonics — fresh, green flavors that felt on-theme.
- We served delicious tapas so people could graze and chat without needing a formal sit-down dinner.
- We played games to decide the order for picking your new plant—it made it extra fun and a little competitive!
Everyone just had such a genuinely good time. It felt easy and laid-back but still intentional and thoughtful. I truly can’t wait to host it again soon—especially since I had to raincheck last weekend’s party.
If you're looking for a theme for your next girls’ night or dinner party, I hope you'll steal this idea and make it your own. After all, the best celebrations are the ones we share. 💕
