Okay so here’s a little thing you will know about me if we are going to be besties: Anthropologie (aka Anthro) is my absolute favorite store. There are so many reasons why I love it (Primrose Mirror anyone?), even though it is pretty expensive— I definitely only shop this store from the sales and clearance rack! From the amazing high quality yet unique clothes to the yummiest smelling candles Anthro never disappoints.
So when a friend asked me, “have you been to the Anthropologie restaurant?” you know I had to check it out immediately! I’m not entirely sure how officially affiliated Terrain Cafe is with Anthropologie, but Anthro does carry their products in their stores. Either way, it was calling my name.
Terrain Cafe opened in 2008 out of a small coffee shop inside a Glen Mills, PA garden store. Now it has grown to three locations. They really bring farm-to-table dining to another level: the food is elevated but it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and the atmosphere is incredible. Think garden center meets chic rustic dining.
You can still buy garden supplies, with an entire array of plants and tools. And inside? There’s a retail shop that feels like the home section of Anthropologie on steroids: from glassware to cookbooks to carefully curated vintage inspired finds, it is a design-lover’s dream.
Everything I’ve eaten here has been amazing, but if you’re going for dinner, here are my top recommendations:
Yellowfin Tuna
This dish is served with sesame-infused soba noodles, peanut sauce, chili-marinated cucumber, pickled carrots & herbs. It’s fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated.
Boneless Beef Short Rib
Served with Parisian gnocchi, baby carrots, and a red wine demi. It’s cozy, tender, and perfect for a date night or a girls’ dinner out.
Favorite Cocktail
They have a rotating cocktail menu so I can’t promise this will be there when you visit, but my absolute favorite was a Raspberry Matcha White Chocolate Martini. Sweet, earthy, and totally unique.
Also, did I mention each table is given a bread “basket” paired with an artisanal butter. The best part is that the bread is baked into a terracotta pot, really emphasizing the garden theme! Let me tell you that bread that they bring to the table is warm, with a pillowy soft inside, and is so delicious. The butter paired with the bread that is pictured below was a strawberry rhubarb butter that made me literally want to like the bowl it came in until I ate every last drop. You can even buy bake it at home kits for their terracotta bread in their retail store, which I think would be a fun addition to any dinner party.
