A French-Inspired Escape in the Heart of NYC

I’ve always been a little bit in love with everything Frenchthe buttery croissants, the romantic window displays, the cozy café vibes. So when I first heard about Maman, a French bakery and café that started in New York City, I knew I had to try it for myself.

Funny enough, my first introduction to Maman wasn’t through a local recommendation, but from watching a show on Chip and Joanna Gaines Magnolia Network. They featured Maman in an episode, about their gorgeous, flower-filled window displays. Side note: If you’re a fan of the Gaines (like me!), you will definitely enjoy my article about visiting Magnolia Market in Waco.

"Stepping into Maman feels like being instantly transported to a little café in Provence, even though you're actually in the middle of New York City."

Beyond the beautiful aesthetic, Maman is also famous for its gigantic chocolate chip cookieso good it landed on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. It's crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and sprinkled with just the right touch of flaky salt. Trust me, it's worth every bite (I couldn’t help eating 1/2 my cookie before taking the picture below).

But Maman isn’t just about sweet treats. While their pastries and cookies are divine, they also offer an impressive selection of savory items. I loved their hearty salads and rustic quiches that make it just as perfect for lunch as for a morning coffee run. Notice, this delicious brunch spread they featured on their Instagram below 👇🏽:

What started as one charming spot in NYC has now expanded to other states across the US, bringing that cozy, French-inspired experience to even more people. Whether you’re visiting for the Instagram-worthy décor, the artisanal lattes, or that Oprah-approved cookie, Maman is truly a little slice of Paris you can visit any day of the week.

Have you visited Maman in NYC or any of their new locations?  I’d love to know what you think — Let’s talk about it in the comments 💬
